Having an unlimited PTO program is one of the best ways to encourage employees to take time off, regardless of what country they live and work in.
Unlimited paid time off can also help reduce resentment and an “us versus them” mindset, according to Marisol Hughes, executive vice president and general counsel at WilsonHCG.
“If an employee who sits in the US works alongside someone who’s based in the UK,” where most workers receive 28 days of paid annual leave, “it will become obvious pretty quickly that their counterparts in the UK are entitled to more time off,” Hughes said in an interview with the Observer.
