Balancing authority and transparency can be challenging for today's leaders, but that relatability helps to build respect among employees.
Ken Bowles, chief financial officer at WilsonHCG, spoke to reporters from the Business Journal Leadership Trust to discuss ways leaders can be more transparent. He said he's an advocate of open-door policies.
"Leaders should block time on their calendar to be available for this kind of discussion or else it doesn't work," Bowles said.
This honest exchange, he added, allows employees to build relationships and trust, welcoming employees to reach out in the future should they have any questions.
