Relationship building in remote work environments is essential

Replacing water cooler chats with virtual ones can really help with relationship building, according to WilsonHCG’s COO Kim Pope.

As one of the members of the Forbes HR Council, she discussed ways to navigate and succeed in a remote environment — especially for employees transitioning for the first time.

“It sounds obvious but encourage employees to get to know their new colleagues with informal video calls,” Pope said.

“Building connections and relationships remotely can be hard for those who have never done it before, but informal catch-ups can help people to get to know each other on a personal level,” she added.
