WilsonHCG’s Marisol Hughes awarded top legal honor at the 2023 Apogee Awards 

--Tampa, Fla -- Marisol Hughes, EVP & General Counsel at WilsonHCG, has been recognized as the Chief Legal Officer of the Year at the 2023 Apogee Awards. 

Created by Tampa Bay Business & Wealth magazine, with the word “apogee”  defined as the highest point of development or culmination, the Apogee Awards program is designed to recognize distinguished C-suite leaders whose dedication to their industries and communities deserves particular recognition.  

"I'm humbled and honored to be recognized with this award,” Hughes said. “The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) position is male-dominated and this recognition means so much to me as a Latina woman in the role, especially during Hispanic Heritage Month. I truly hope this award helps motivate other women and people of color to get involved in the legal profession, especially in-house. As Ruth Bader Ginsburg so eloquently put it, ’Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time’ and this is definitely a step in the right direction. Hughes leads two key support functions, legal and people & culture, at global talent leader WilsonHCG. She also serves as the company’s chief diversity officer, co-chairing the internal DEIB board alongside CEO John Wilson. Hughes and her legal team negotiate key contracts, assist in the navigation of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), oversee compliance and corporate governance for over 30 international entities, while supporting WilsonHCG’s foreign market entry and expansion. She also drives the company’s internal human capital management strategy – including talent growth and development, compensation and benefits and employee relations and engagement. 

Hughes has been awarded a raft of recognition over the years including being named as a Tampa Bay Business Journal Top Corporate Counsel honoree, named to the Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) 40 under 40 list and the SIA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Influencer's list.
