Kim Pope: Give candidates a chance to ask questions before skills assessments take place

Kim Pope, chief operating officer at WilsonHCG, shared her thoughts with reporters from the Forbes Human Resources Council regarding best practices when administering skill assessments during the interview process. 

“Hiring managers or recruiters should provide a clear brief of the test and then give job candidates a chance to ask questions before the timed skills test starts. This will help them to better understand what’s expected,” Pope stated. 

“Be sure to emphasize to the interviewee that this is only part of the equation when it comes to making a hiring decision. It will take some of the pressure off,” she added.
