Women of Wilson 2019
March is the month that we honor Women of Wilson. This initiative is designed to recognize and thank the women who are innovating, leading by example and helping to create the great successes we’re experiencing here at WilsonHCG.
We asked staff to nominate the women they think deserve to be honored and we've been speaking to the six finalists to find out more about them.
Alicia O'Brien, VP, Innovation at WilsonHCG, is one of our finalists. She is based in Tampa, Florida.
How long have you worked at WilsonHCG?
I have been with WilsonHCG for eight years this March! I started virtually as a recruitment consultant, and have been afforded the opportunity to lead teams of recruiters, and account leaders, and recently revived our innovation function. We are so excited about the projects and initiatives on the docket for 2019 to better support our delivery functions, and ultimately our clients.
What advice would you give someone looking to advance into a leadership role?
Listen to those around you and learn from what you hear, regardless of their position. Build relationships within and outside of your sphere of influence. Be authentic and kind in everything you do. Don't be afraid to share your ideas and fail forward. Making mistakes is highly encouraged, so long as you learn from your setbacks! Finally, be honest and transparent in your communication with others. We grow from our challenges so be open to feedback that your peers or mentors provide and learn from it!
Who is a woman in history you admire and why?
I admire Elizabeth Arden and the way she paved success for herself during a time when women's rights were emerging in the early 1900s. She took a passion for the beauty industry and knew that acquiring operational business knowledge was the way to take her passion to the nex
t level, and she got it done.
What is one of the things you would put on your bucket list?
Visiting the Northern Lights when "The Sky is Awake" ...$5 to the first person to call out the Disney reference here!
Are you a morning or night person?
I am a MORNING person! I'm always the sharpest in the quiet of the early morning. Mornings are when I curate the most innovative ideas.
Describe yourself in three words
Calm, tenacious, and a problem solver. 
If you could trade lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Chrissy Teigen. She is a businesswoman, working mother, and she's as authentic as they come. She's invested in her passion to cook and I'd love to have that be my job for a day.
