WilsonHCG's Gillisa Pope discusses campus recruiting trends

Campus recruiting teams reported seeing fewer job applications per job in 2021 than in prior years. This trend was especially common in applications on school job boards and attendance at university career fairs has also been lower than in previous years.

Gillisa Pope,  director of sourcing design & branding at WilsonHCG, said the pandemic's economic impacts have limited students' employment opportunities. Because companies paused hiring in 2020, many students were unable to earn extra income during breaks from their studies, which meant many would not have had the funds to cover relocation costs.

"Many will be rebuilding their savings, so they have funds to support possible moves," Pope added.
